run down..

I don't know if its the colder weather or coming back from vacation that does it but i have been so run down and tired this week! I don't think all the coffee in the world could wake me up! (and trust me I've drank a lot of it this week) Hopefully i can survive the work week and make it to my weekend plans. I'm sure that will turn my mood around!

I've also found that because I've been in a run down mood this week I've been craving certain things: chocolate chip cookies, warm soups, cuddling up on the couch with a blanket, fuzzy socks, and a basic apathetic attitude towards anything productive lol.

Is it just me or does everyone go through something of this sort around this time of year?

Happy Halloween!

So i'm sitting on my couch relaxing after the busy fun filled weekend i had. It was the best Halloween I've ever celebrated! (Mainly because i haven't dressed up or really celebrated the holiday in YEARS but none the less...) There's nothing i love more than a weekend with the girls; the beautiful suites, fun Halloween costumes, and clubs were simply icing on top of the cake! Birthday cake that is...for Michelle's 21st birthday! I ordered some fun cupcakes from The Cupcakery in Vegas as a treat for everyone for coming. And i also got my bunny a special cupcake!
Chocolate Peanut Butter cupcakes w/ zebra stripes & Bunny's cupcake!

Friday night was so great staying at the Mandalay Bay and going to the Foundation Room! Val came out & played with us too, it was such a great night. Saturday was spent relaxing and walking around the strip doing some shopping and playing cards with Michelle! Then dinner at T&T: Tacos & Tequilla and off to the Tao where we got comp admission and open bar. I had so much fun dancing with everyone all dressed up in our costumes for Halloween.
Striking a pose! Our winnings!! Dinner @ T&T

The drive back today was pretty rough, i'm exhausted from all the fun this weekend and the 6 hours back to salt lake was quite boring to say the least! But never the less this weekend was the best ever! I hope Michelle had a great 21st birthday and everyone else had a great holiday too!

We have suites at Mandalay Bay and the Luxor too! With a few birthday surprises for Michelle thrown in of course. This weekend couldn't get better :)

I'll make sure to upload pics and tell you all about it when i get back!

Founders Day/Homecoming 2010

My mom and i traveled to Cedar recently for Homecoming & an Alpha Phi Founder's Day celebration. It was so great to see everyone again, and meet the new initiates of Alpha Phi! We had such a good time at Initiation, the Homecoming parade & game, and Alumni Tea - here are some pictures from the weekend!

i fell in love with this quote...

"I no longer believed in the idea of soul mates, or love at first sight. But i was beginning to believe that a very few times in your life, if you were lucky, you might meet someone who was exactly right for you. Not because he was perfect, or because you were, but because your combined flaws were arranged in a way that allowed two separate beings to hinge together."

Red Cross = :)

The past couple weeks have been absolutely crazy! I've been taking a lot of classes and finishing up some more training with the Red Cross but, i'm now a certified CPR & first aid instructor! YAY! I'm taking more disaster services classes as well, hoping to get deployed soon. So keep your fingers crossed for me!

On a side note, September is national Preparedness Month, do you know what to do in a disaster? Make sure you have a kit, make a plan, and be informed! Visit utahredcross.org for more tips on being prepared!

i promise i'm still alive...

Alas i have returned from my summer of no blogging!

My life has gone through quite a few changes over past few months, so here's a recap on what you missed:

  • Graduated from SUU with my bachelor's degree and sadly had to say goodbye to Cedar City! Also moved out of the Alpha Phi house and helped pack and clean so we could move houses. You never truly realize how much you own until you have to move, luckily my family was there to help me! Seeing my family and friends support me on graduation day was simply the best feeling ever, so i thank them for that!!
  • My mom had another knee replacement and is finally back at work, yay! Her recovery has been slow and challenging at times but i'm glad she is doing well, she's so strong :)
  • After two months of unemployment (that almost drove me crazy) I am now working for the American Red Cross in Salt Lake City and i love it so much. I'm gaining some valuable experience and learning a lot about the organization and myself along the way. Hopefully i can learn even more before i leave here in December.
  • I've been involved with the Alumnae Chapter in Salt Lake and it has been a blessing to be around these amazing women again and meet new sisters. I've had so much fun with everything we've done, and it has made living in salt lake bearable while i'm adjusting to the move.
  • I've also got the chance to catch up with some old friends and friends i haven't been able to see in quite a while and that has been great.
That has been my life in a nutshell for the past few months! Now onto Football Season!!! And perhaps a couple visits to Cedar this fall :)

Greek Awards Banquet

Last night was the Greek Awards Banquet to finish out Greek Week and i had so much fun! The Greek Week committee worked really hard on putting events together to unite the Greek organizations and honor our various achievements. There was the dodge ball tournament, Greek Olympics, all-Greek picture, and then the awards banquet.

I was so proud to be an Alpha Phi last night. We won:

Highest G.P.A.
Most improved G.P.A.
Most Service Hours
Raquel & Courtney won Best Big & Little Sister
8/10 Highest Sorority G.P.A.'s were members of Alpha Phi

Congratulations to our Bordeaux Beau Andrew for winning Greek God of the Year!!
Sylvia Lovato won Greek Goddess of the year, but i had the honor of being nominated for the top 5!

It was a very exciting night, and i hope that they continue the tradition next year as well.

Exciting Life Change!

Sometime last semester i got to thinking i should be taking better care of myself and i should be a lot healthier than i currently was. So over the past 5 months i have done 2 rounds of dieting and taught myself to eat healthier and change my bad habits. I also did a round of intense fitness boot camp to strengthen my muscles and tone up.
The results of this have made me a new person (or rather almost half the person i was before!) Although i hate to admit how much weight I've lost, I'm rather proud of my hard work which has resulted in me being 47 pounds lighter, and within just the past couple months I've lost a total of 38.75 inches.

Here's a look at pictures over the past few months - eek! (prepare yourself)...

Spring Break

This spring break i had to work for most of the week :(

BUT when i got off work Thursday me and Michelle set off for the beautiful Mesquite!! It was great to get away and relax. We spent the afternoon by the pool and met some strange old man in the hot tub (hahaha) but had a great time. Then there was the adventure of finding a hide-a-key in hurricane-like winds...so the trip was off to a great start.

Friday we left for Vegas and spent the day on the strip. We went to M&M World and the Miracle Mile shops at Planet Hollywood and walked down the strip and around the casinos. I'm pretty sure it was the most fun I've had in Vegas.

Oh and we found out that Michelle got into Nursing School!!! We were very excited!

Saturday we set off for Mesquite again. Spent the whole afternoon laying out by the pool and spent the night playing Nerts and watching season 2 of Bones. It was the most relaxing day! Sunday we relaxed some more in Mesquite before finally heading back to Cedar.

We were sad to leave the warm weather :(

Michelle and i had the best time for the short vacation we got! Definitely one of my favorite spring breaks :)

Valentines Day

Being the fan of Valentines day that i am - i spent the day with Michelle and watched Saw II. It was actually a pretty good day, i worked and earned some money, had a lazy day watching Friends in bed, and had dinner and watched a movie with Michelle...she's a great date fyi.

I got a Valentines card from my Grandpa as per his usual gift each year. He put a photo in it for me though which really made me smile! He always knows just how to make my day better. The picture is from when i was 2 years-old and I'm sitting on his lap watching football all decked out in Bronco's gear...true fan at heart :)

Overall i had a great relaxing Valentines day and got to see some of the people i love. I couldn't ask for more

Life leading up to, and during 2010

It has definitely been a while since I've made a post and i apologize. Life has been crazy lately and i haven't been able to update this as much as I've wanted to, but i will give you a little re-cap of what's been going on!

Christmas: I got to spend the holiday with my family in Grand Junction, Colorado and had such an amazing time! It was definitely good to see family that i haven't seen in months and spend some time with my mom again. It was her birthday on the 26th and we spend the day shopping and relaxing and then went out to dinner with everyone that night. We also got to go see 2012 before i left too! Such a good break, i honestly couldn't have asked for more.

New Years: Vegas was calling my name so i escaped for a quick trip to see Kira :) We spent the night laughing about pretty much everything. We went to dinner with her family at PF Changs and it was delicious! Those lettuce wraps are simply heavenly. On New Years day we spend the entire day shopping and catching up, it was great to see my best friend again. I never realize how much i need her advice or opinion until we start talking about Life and what the future holds. She is one of the greatest people i know and i'm truly blessed to have her in my life. It was a short trip but completely worth it!

School started last week! (eek) Everything had been great so far however. My classes for this semester are: Communication Theory, Feature Writing, Communication Research, Technical Writing, and Public Relations Case Studies. It is going to be a very hard semester with a lot of work to do (especially since I'm writing my thesis) but it should be a good end note to my collegiate career!

Things to look forward to in the next 6 months!: I'm in the process of getting my concealed weapons permit, Graduating SUU, possibly moving to Salt Lake after Graduation, applying with the FBI, R&R Partners & more, and Bartending School :)

Stay posted for exciting life changes soon to come about!!

Lastly, some words to live by:

"What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for the world and others remains and is immortal."
